Can't, can't, can't

Bathroom ideas are being bandied around like no ones business!!

So I like VJ panelling. The builder doesn't.
I love mosaic tiles. The tiler doesn't.
I'd love pressed tin around the bath. The builder isn't sure.

Where is there sense of adventure????

  1. Can! Can! Can! Just nag them until they give in. Let them have their whinge! They'll get over it and get on with it. This is your home, this is where you'll be living, you need to make sure it's 100% what you want!! No compromise!

  2. Ahh.. Love VJ panelling. I was just asking my husband about this the other day for our new bathroom. I don't think he understood. Will have to show him these pics. I love it!

  3. Vj panelling sounds good to me. Mosaic tiles are lovely but avoid in the shower as there is too much grout to clean. We had them around our bath and above our vanity and they looked fab. I too love pressed metal and am trying to talk Legoman into letting me use it in either our bathroom or kitchen.
My experience is that builders want to avoid anything new or possibly more work than what they know well. Pin them down about what exactly the issue is. If it is purely a visual /taste thing then keep hassling them. If it is going to be too costly/not wear well that is totally different and consider their input. We got our builders to put a tile recess inside our shower cavity to hold the shampoos and 8 years ago when we did this he had never done it before and looked at us like we were mad but said it was easy and was happy to do it. I did get into a stand up fight with him over the height of our picture rails but as this was a visual/taste thing I stood my ground. I can't think why he would care about the vj panelling except maybe worrying if it gets wet it will warp as it's made of mdf these days. The pressed metal he probably has never worked with and the mosaic tiles= more work for the tiler. Ours came in sheets and were super easy. We are totally at an impasse as to what to do with our bathroom- may need to do a post for some help!Melx

  7. I don't think I can give up the panelling but perhaps the tiles can change. As the shower will be a wet room, so Mel witht he grout thing it would be better to have big tiles!
